Notorious criminal killed

Pune, Aug 11 (UNI) A notorious criminal who had created a reign of terror in the city and the district, was killed in an encounter by the city police today.

Bhosari Police, in whose juridiction the incident took place, said following a tip off, police had laid a trap for Robert alias Rahul Salve near Mulshi toll Naka where he was supposed to come. When Salve, along with his three accomplices, reached the spot, police asked him to surrender, but they opened fire from their country-made revolvers injuring one of the police officers, police said.

In retaliation, police also opened fire at them and Salve received a bullet injury. He was taken to the hospital by police, but the doctor declared him dead before admission, police said.
