Nepal PM to be chosen on Friday
Kathmandu, Aug 11 : A meeting of the Nepal Constituent Assembly (CA) Task Management Committee today decided to elect the Prime Minister on August 15.
According to electoral programmes, the nominations for the Prime Minister are to be registered at the Constituent Assembly Secretariat on Thursday.
Article 38 (2) of the Interim Constitution provides that the Prime Minister shall be elected through a majority of two-thirds of the members of the Legislature-Parliament, if consensus cannot be reached.
On Sunday, President Ram Baram Yadav had called on the Constituent Assembly to take initiatives for forming a new government through vote since the CPN-Maoist failed to form a new government based on national consensus even by the extended deadline.
