Congress accuses SDF of corruption
Gangtok, Aug 11 (UNI) AICC secretary and in-charge of Sikkim Sanjya Bapna has alleged that the Central funds and development schemes meant for the people of the state had not materialised due to the undemocratic activities of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party.
Addressing the people at Malbasey village in West Sikkim, Mr Bapna blamed the SDF government for not implementing the Central funds and development schemes.
''Hundreds of crores of rupees have been allotted to Sikkim as Central funds but the development activities have not happened here,'' he claimed.
He blamed the SDF government of being embroiled in corruption.
''If democracy is to be restored and development to happen in Sikkim, then people must support the Congress to form the next government,'' Mr Bapna said.
The AICC secretary said the Congress will form the government in Sikkim during the upcoming Assembly elections next year.
Mr Bapna was on a two-day visit in the state to oversee the state Congress preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
State Congress president and former Chief Minister Nara Bahadur Bhandari laid the party's roadmap to the Assembly elections by announcing a slew of promises and agendas.
Mr Bhandari promised to expose the ''corrupt, casteist and communal'' activities of the ruling SDF party and claimed that only a Congress government can protect and serve the Sikkimese people.
