Chandy calls for common development policy
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 11: Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today urged the Left Democratic Front Government to initiate discussion for evolving a common development policy for the state.
''Even if the government changes, there should be continuation of development activities,'' he told newspersons here, reacting to the appeal by the CPI(M) to cooperate with development projects.
The UDF would always give constructive support to the government if it came out with a project beneficial to the state. Ironically, it was the CPI(M) that oppose each and every project when in opposition and implement the same when they came to power.
Welcoming the CPI(M) decision to attract private investment worth Rs 2,500 crore in the next three years, he said the Marxists should also create a conducive atmosphere for investment.
It was not proper on the part of the CPI(M) to put the entire blame on Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan for the failure of the government, he said the CPI(M) should take responsibility for politicising the administration.
