The top 10 books Brit MPs would like to read on a holiday
London, Aug 11 : A tome written by British politician William Hague's wife Ffion has emerged as one of the most popular books MPs would like to read on a holiday, according to a recent poll.
In the poll of 150 MPs, most were willing to read 'The Pain and the Privilege: The Women in Lloyd George's Life' by Ffion Hague, while former British PM Tony Blair's wife Cherie Blair's autobiography was picked by only one MP.
The first place was shared by Hague and Khaled Hosseini's 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'.
William Hague's biography of anti-slavery campaigner 'William Wilberforce' was the next most popular book among MPs.
Sebastian Faulk's highly publicised James Bond novel 'Devil May Care' shared the third spot with William Hague's biography.
Alastair Campbell, former spokesperson of Tony Blair, fared slightly better.
His account of Tony Blair's decade as Prime Minister, The Blair Years, came joint fifth.
US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's two books also made it to the list of the popular holiday reads, Dreams From My Father, and the political manifesto, Audacity Of Hope.
Among a few works of fiction, while author Ian Rankin was popular among Labour MPs, William Hague was the favourite for Tories.
"It seems that the Hagues are everyone's favourite flight companions this summer," the BBC quoted spokesman for Waterstones, which conducted the survey, as saying.
"William Hague's books on the other Williams - Pitt and Wilberforce - have dominated our annual MPs Summer Reading survey, and this mirrors the sales we see in our stores. Hague is now one of our bestselling historians," he added.
The most popular holiday reads are:
1. Ffion Hague The Pain and the Privilege: The Women in Lloyd George's Life
2. Khaled Hosseini A Thousand Splendid Suns
3. William Hague William Wilberforce: The Life of the Great Anti-Slave Trade Campaigner
4. Sebastian Faulks Devil May Care
5. Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope
6. Barack Obama Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance
7. William Hague William Pitt the Younger
8. Alastair Campbell The Blair Years
9. Robert Harris The Ghost
10. John Prescott My Story: Pulling No Punches.
