Wanted criminal nabbed
Bhavnagar, Aug 10 (UNI) A wanted criminal, involved in 40 cases of murder and dacoity, was arrested by the city police after an encounter at Jaliya village, near here, police said today.
On a tip off, Bhavnagar local crime branch officials raided a house in Sathara village, last night, but the accused Shailesh Dhandhaliya escaped along with one of his accomplices on a motorcycle, according to police.
Police chased him and at Jaliya village Dhandhaliya was intercepted, following which an exchange of fire ensued between them, in which police officer V K Gadhavi and Dhandhaliya were injured, police said.
While Mr Gadhavi has been admitted to a hospital in Rajkot, Dhandhaliya was admitted to a local hospital.
Police have arrested Dhandhaliya and his accomplice, seized a revolver from his possession and registered a case against him.
