National Waterways Development Council to launch movement
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 10 (UNI) The National Waterways Development Council has decided to launch a movement to create awareness among the people about national waterways.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Council Chairman A C Kamaraj said there were inter-state river disputes all over the country and this dispute could not be solved through linking of rivers.
In order to find an alternative, the Council had designed a national waterways project, which would ultimately solve the inter-state river water disputes, he added.
Though the Council had explained the project details to Chief Ministers and Irrigation Ministers, of various states nobody had shown interest to implement the project so far, he said.
The Council had already launched various campaign programmes in Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, he added.
