Flood situation let-up, rains re-visit in state

Lucknow, Aug 10: With the deluge condition gradually slackening in the affected areas, a heavy downpour in catchment areas has resulted in spate in rivers.

According to Central Water Commission reports on Sunday, Aug 10 said Ganga was overflowing by two cm in Ballia district, while river Sharda was 28 cm above the danger lavel in Paliyakala (Lakihmpur Kheri).

Ghangra was recorded flowing 27 cm above the red mark in Elginbridge (Barabanki), while the river was seven cm above the level in Turtipar (Ballia). Saryu was 18 cm up the said mark in Ayodhya.

The information received from weather office said in the last 24 hours most places of the state received little to normal rainfall.

Turtipar received four cm rainfall, followed by Jhansi three cm, Jalaun two cm, while Jaunpur, Faizabad, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Bareilly and Ballia observed one cm each rainfall.

The Metreological department forecast rainfall at isolated places of the state in the next 24 hours.
