Centre deferring monsoon session to avoid discussion: Venkaiah
Bhopal, Aug 10 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today said the Centre is deferring convening monsoon session of Parliament to avoid discussion on pressing issues like rising terrorism, cash-for-vote scam in Lok Sabha and spiraling prices.
Mr Naidu made the statement while addressing a press conference after a meeting of the party's election campaign, management and manifesto committees.
''Usually, monsoon session is convened by the last week of July.
Perhaps, it is not delayed for such a long time,'' he said.
He pointed out that the Centre knew that it would not be easy to discuss on various issues. People were suffering due to soaring inflation, which is highest in the past 13 years.
''People in the country are living in a state of fear due to rising terrorism. Feeling of insecurity has increased among people after blasts in Bengalaru and Ahmedabad and locating of bombs in Surat,'' the BJP leader noted.
Referring to the continuing agitation in Jammu&Kashmir over the Amarnath land issue, he alleged that it happened due to dirty politics of the Congress and the PDP.
Besides, there were some internal issues due to which the Centre is not convening monsoon session.
