BJP calls Bhagidari 'lunch-dinner scheme'
New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) BJP Delhi chief Harshvardhan described the much-hyped Bhagidari Yojna as ''nothing but lunch and dinner scheme'' today.
''Bhagidari is widely seen as the brain child of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit,'' he said.
About Rs 1.68 crore were spent on treating the representatives of Resident Welfare Asociations in the meetings convened during the last five years, he alleged, quoting the figures from reply by the Delhi Government itself to a RTI application.
The BJP leader added that the reply to the RTI question mentioned grant of Rs one crore to the RWAs during those years for improvement in power supply, on the implementation of Unit Area Method of property tax, RTI Act, VAT, among others, even though Bhagidari scheme has nothing to do with such works.
According to him, many members of the RWA were surprised to see the expenses on the lunches and dinners. They claimed to have been served only a cup of tea during the meeting on the scheme.
