42 people feared dead in AP
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 10 (UNI) As many as 42 people were feared dead after the lorry on which they were travelling was washed away in the gushing waters of Madduru Rivulet in Narukalladu in this district this afternoon.
Police said about 50 passengers, including ten women and five children, were on the vehicle when the mishap occurred.
Eight people managed to swim to safety and so far, three bodies were recovered by expert divers.
The lorry was proceeding to Amaravathi Mandal. The lorry was washed away when the water began to rise suddenly sweeping the vehicle with its currents.
Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana rushed to the spot along with the District Collector to supervise rescue operations.
