Two, including woman, perish in flash floods in Poonch
Jammu, Aug 9 (UNI) Two people, including an old woman, drowned in flash floods in separate incidents near the Line of Control (LoC) as heavy rains struck normal life in Poonch district, official sources said today.
The woman, identified as Mehda Begum, was killed in flash flood when she and her daughter Praveen Akhtar were crossing a drain with their cattle in Salwah village of Poonch district last evening, the sources said.
While Mehda Begum died, her daughter was rescued by the locals.
Their three cattle also perished in the flood.
Meanwhile, an unidentified person was drowned in flash floods at Mankot area of the district, which witnessed heavy rains yesterday.
Police were searching for the body of the person, who, as informed by the eyewitness, appeared to be a Sikh as he was wearing a turban, the sources added.
