Govt to develop conditions of physically challenged
Madikeri, Aug 9: The government is committed for the development of physically handicapped, said Minister for Sports and Youth Services, Goolihatti Chandrashekar.
The minister distributed equipments to physically impair in a function at Sunticoppa on Friday, Aug 8 which was organised by the Dr Zakir Hussain Trust, Uttar Pradesh. He assured that necessary assistance would be provided to the activities of the trust, if it extends its activities to state level.
Former MLA from Uttar Pradesh and convener of the Trust Louis Kurshid speaking on the occasion said the Trust was formed during 1986 and has been working for the welfare of the physically handicapped. She informed that they were also working at Madyapradesh and Andra. They entered Kodagu as there were no proper facilities available to Handiapped here, she said.
Zilla Panchayath member Lokesh Kumar said that planters Vinodh Shivappa and Anand Basappa were instrumental in bringing the Trust to Kodagu.
