Fishermen warned against venturing into rough seas

Panaji, Aug 9 (UNI) Considering the Arabian Sea being rough and westerly winds with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kmph lashing following heavy rains, the weather office in Goa has warned the fishermen against venturing into the Sea for the next 24 hours.

The Met office has also forecast heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in the next 24 hours, even as life was paralysed with rains in bouts hitting the state today.

During the last 24 hours, Goa had received 16.6 mm rainfall, registering a total 1614 mm seasonal fall so far.

The state administration has been on alert with several low-lying areas inundated.

Fire brigade sources reported no major calamities barring uprooting of trees and snapping of wires due to bad weather.
