CMO of Etawah brutally murdered

Etawah, Aug 9 (UNI) Dr O P Chimbha, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the district, was killed by some unknown assailants at his residence here.

The assailants barged into his residence and brutally killed him by crushing his face by a heavy object. Two guards -- Gopiram and Rajendra Prasad -- present at his residence, were also seriously injured in the attack, police said.

Immediately after the news of the incident spread, all the government and private doctors in the district went on a strike demanding arrest of culprits. The emergency and routine medical services had been crippled due to the strike, official sources said.

Police launched a manhunt to nab the killers and the dog squad had been pressed into service to catch them, the sources added.

Guard Gopiram was taken into custody for interrogation, while further details are awaited.
