CM assures of 'strong stand' to control mining sector
Mangalore, Aug 9 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said that his government would take a strong stand to effectively control the mining activities in the state.
Speaking to party workers he said the government had not renewed any mining licenses after it had taken over reigns in May.
Rejecting allegations of the opposition congress and the JD(S), he said those mining licenses renewed were all during the regime of the congress and the coalition government led by JD(S).
He said that the state government had given special thrust on development of roads in rural area.
The government had also set apart Rs 40 crore for construction of vented dam across Netravathi River for providing drinking water to Mangalore city, he added.
