City businessman's money stolen
Chennai, Aug 9 (UNI) A city businessman's money was stolen at Pallavaram in the outskirts of the city today.
Police said the 57-year-old businessman Thanga Pandian, hailing from New Perunguluthur near Thambaram went to one Balakrishnan's residence at Perambur to seek Rs 2,50,000 as loan to purchase land. Mr Balarishnan gave him Rs 2,44,000 after deducting Rs 6,000 as initial interest payment.
Mr Pandian, while returning to his residence, stopped his motorbike at Pallavaram to buy essentials from a departmental stores. He kept Rs 2,40,000 inside the box in his motor-bike and the remaining Rs 4,000 in his pocket. However, when the businessman returned, he found that the box in the vehicle was broken open and the cash stolen.
Mr Pandian lodged a complaint with the Pallavaram police.
A case was registered and investigation was underway, police added.
