Precision farming in Pondy on Rajiv's birth anniversary

Puducherry, Aug 8 (UNI) Precision farming would be introduced here on former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary on August 20, Agriculture Minister V Vaithilingam today said.

Talking to mediapersons after distributing subsidy to farmers who switched to horticulture, Mr Vaithilingam said precision farming would be initially introduced in Pandachozhanallur, Kodathur and Uravayaru for cultivation of chillies.

The Agriculture Department also kept brinjal saplings ready for cultivation, he added.

Earlier, Mr Vaithilingam distributed subsidy to the tune of Rs 12.33 lakh to 339 farmers for taking up horticulture.
