Cong 'sankalp yatras' in MP

Bhopal, Aug 8 (UNI) Even as political parties are gearing up for the Madhya Pradesh polls, the main opposition Congress has decided to launch 'sankalp yatras' from tomorrow with the objective of making the common man aware of the ''failures'' of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime.

''The Yatras will get underway on the Quit India Movement's anniversary and conclude at district level on August 20 that is former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary.

Corruption-linked issues, local problems and the BJP's reneging on promises will be chiefly raised,'' party's State Election Campaign Committee Chairman Ajay Singh told newspersonsafter the Committee's first meeting here today.

The former minister alleged that the Centre's key public welfare schemes were being implemented as if they were state schemes.

''Committee members have been bestowed division-wise responsibilities. They have been asked to earmark local problems and raise them vociferously. A resolve will be taken at every block headquarters to oust the BJP regime. From August 10 to 19, the yatras will travel from block headquarters to village panchayats,'' he added.
