Solan, Aug 8 (UNI) Seven people, including three children, were rescued this morning from the swollen Rata rivulet at Jahrmajri village in the district today.
Police reports here said the three children were pulled out of the river downstream by a group of labourers. Earlier reports had stated that the three children who were reported missing had probably drowned in the rivulet.
Police also rescued four migrant labourers who got trapped on a elavated rock in the rivulet, which is in spate due to heavy rains in the district.
Meanwhile, due to heavy rainfall in the area, water level has increased in a number of streams. A number of people residing along the Sarsa river were evacuated to safer areas.
The heavy rainfall has also disrupted the movement of traffic in various parts of the state. National Highway 22 has been closed for vehicles and traffic has been diverted through bypass route from Kumarhatti to Solan.
Heavy rains triggered landslides in Barog, where four houses collapsed this morning.
However, no loss of life was reported.
