Centre to set up new IT Investment Regions
Chandigarh, Aug 8 (UNI) The Central Government has notified a policy to set up new Information Technology Investment Regions to facilitate expansion of IT-ITES industry beyond the cities where the IT industry is currently located.
This was informed here by Mr Jainder Singh, Union IT Secretary, while addressing the IT professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs on the last day of eRevolution2008.
He said the state government will have to identify minimum 4,000 hectare of land and facilitate provision of basic infrastructure such as power, water, state roads, etc for these ITIRs for which the Centre will ensure the availability of external physical infrastructure, linkages to the ITIR including national highways, airports, telecom and rail in a time-bound framework.
