Woman murdered for practising sorcery

Rourkela, Aug 7 (UNI) Bijila Barla (30) of Maldihi village under Rajgangpur police station in Sundargarh district, about 50 km from here, was arrested on a charge of killing Jumbi Barla (50) of the same village, suspecting her to be a witch.

Bijila suspected that his two nephews died about one and half year back following the witchcraft practised by Jumbi.

Police said Bijila took Jumbi for a drink last evening and on their way back home cut her throat by a sharp weapon killing her on the spot.

Police seized the weapon and sent the body for postmortem.

The accused would be forwarded to court tomorrow, police said.
