Srinagar, Aug 7: Life in the Kashmir valley was affected for the forth consecutive day today due to the ongoing protests against the alleged attack on Muslims and Kashmiri drivers in Jammu.

Though no organisation had given any 'hartal call' for today, shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic remained off the roads in the summer capital and most major towns in the Kashmir valley.

Works in government offices, banks and other semi-government offices and undertakings were also affected due to the strike.

Majority of educational institutions also remained closed.

However, those having morning timing reopened today. The University of Kashmir and State Board of School Education have already announced cancellation of their examinations.

A report from Baramulla said complete shutdown was observed in the town and other major towns of the north Kashmir, with all shops and business establishments shut and traffic remaining off the roads.

Similar reports were also received from other district headquarters of the valley.
