Stir by SC organisations from Aug 18 seeking loan waiver
Kannur, Aug 7 (UNI) Schedule Caste (SC) organisations in Kerala will embark on a statewide agitation from August 18, demanding that loans to SCs be waived and against denial of nativity certificates to scheduled caste students and youths, state co-ordinator of 'Bhuparishkarna Samithi' said today.
Addressing a press conference here today Co ordinator of the Samithi Getthanadhan said farmers, fishermen and coastal peoples' debts were write off by the state government as part of different schems. But this was not so for SC's, he alleged.
The interests of Adhivasi-Dalit people were being ignored by the state government, he charged.
The demands included education, employment, inclusion of SCs in development policies, giving up the government's move to give land to a company in Aralam farm, community certificates to SC students and youths and withdrwal of the new order of ten year validity of nativity certificates to SC people.
The type of agitation would be announced on August 18, he added.
