Panchayat CEO convicted in Bhopal

Bhopal, Aug 7: A special court at Rewa has sentenced Rewa block panchayat's Chief Executive Officer Ramayan Prasad Gautam to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to Lokayukta sources, on a tip-off Gautam's residence at Satna and government residence at Rewa were raided on March 10 and 11, 2000 and he was found to be in possession of movable and immovable assets worth several lakhs of rupees.

A challan was presented in the special court on November 1, 2004 and the court gave its verdict recently, the sources added.
