MCC launches sharp shot digi cams; to open 300 ezones by Oct

New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) With the aim to capture 10-12 per cent share of Rs 1,000 crore digi cam market, MCC group launched sharp shot digital cameras here today.

''The market size in India is growing by 20 per cent y-o-y and we aim to capture 10-12 per cent market share,'' company Managing Director Ajay Mehta told reporters here.

The company has launched seven and eight megapixel cameras featuring smile detection technique at a price of Rs 4,990 and Rs 5,990 respectively.

For marketing the new range of cameras, the company has set two million dollars and also plans to open 300 sharp shot ezone by October.

''We plan to open 300 new sharp shot ezones by October 2008 and add B-Grade towns in our distribution portfolio,'' Mr Mehta said.

For the time being, the cameras, which are manufactured in Taiwan, will be sold through various retail chains such as Reliance, Croma and others, he added.

The market size for digital cameras in the country is pegged at 1.85 million units for 2008, whereas it was 1.65 million units last year.

The MCC group also aims at increasing its revenues to Rs 150 crore by 2010.

It also plans to increase the number of distributors to 250 in the country from 100.
