Man kills wife, kids; commits suicide

Nagpur, Aug 7 (UNI) A 34-year-old man is suspected to have killed his wife and two young children before committing suicide here today.

According to police, the man, identified as Rajesh Rangarao Deshmukh, allegedly strangled his wife, Sheetal (30), with a nylon rope at their hut in a slum this morning. Later, he took his two sons -- Vedant (5) and Vedang (10 months) -- to village Mathni, about 45 km from here and allegedly threw the two kids into the river there, and then jumped into the waters himself to end his life, police said.

The bodies were not found yet, and it was suspected that Rajesh drowned the kids before taking the extreme step himself, they said.

The incident came to light after Sheetal's body was discovered this afternoon, they said. The reason for the act was not yet known, they added.
