Joint advertising for promoting tourism package in India- Banarjee
Bhubaneswar, Aug 07 (UNI) In a bid to boost tourism in the country, the Ministry of Tourism has finalised a scheme for joint advertising in the print media with state governments and private operators.
Stating this at the inaugural function of the 24th annual convention of the India Association of Tour Operators(IATO), Union Tourism Secretary S Banarjee said such a scheme would encourage the public private partnership in promoting tour packages.
He said while the Ministry would contribute 34 per cent of the advertising cost, the balance to be shared equally by the state governments and the private tour operators.
The North eastern states, however, Mr Banarjee said, would not be required to contribute any fund for the scheme as the Ministry would bear the 75 per cent of the advertising cost and the balance 25 per cent being borne by the private tour operators of the region.
