Dalai Lama greets people of China to host Beijing Olympic Games

Dharmshala, Aug 7 (UNI) Tibetan Temporal head and spiritual leader Dalai Lama today offered his greetings to the people of Republic of China, the organizers and the athletes participating in the forthcoming Olympic games in Beijing.

In a statement released to the media here, the Dalai Lama said, '' I would like to offer my greetings to the People's Republic of China, the organizers and the athletes participating in the forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing.'' The Dalai Lama said , ''Right from the time of China's application to hold the Olympic games, I have supported China's right to host the Games.'' This was a moment of great pride for the 1.3 billion Chinese people, he added.

The Tibetan spiritual leader hoped that these Games should contribute to promoting the Olympic spirit of friendship, openness and peace.

He sent his prayers and good wishes for the success of this event, the statement added.
