AP Govt to introduce open rice sale scheme

Hyderabad, Aug 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed civil supplies department to contain hoardings and black-marketing of rice in the state and take stringent action on those indulging in such acitivities, with the coordinated efforts of the departments of vigilance and revenue, police, transport and commercial taxes.

Dr Reddy reviewed the price situation particularly with regard to rice in the state with the ministers and senior officials concerned here.

It was decided to regulate sale of 25 per cent levy free rice eligibility in the ratio of 2:1 i.e.

It also decided to limit storage of rice and edible oil to not more than 4000 quintals under trading and 2000 quintals under non-trading under A P Scheduled Commodities Dealers Order 2008 for regulating the pulses, wheat, rice, edible oils and edible oil seeds through licences and stock limits.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to give directions to all the district collectors and verify the stock position of paddy and rice with the exporters, traders, at market yards and take appropriate action if unauthorized stocks were found.
