AASU, six groups protest against slow deportation of B'deshis
Guwahati, Aug 7 (UNI) The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and six other students' and youth organisations of the state today staged a demonstration here, demanding prompt action against illegal Bangladeshis.
The protestors also submitted a memorandum to Governor Shiv Charan Mathur at the end of the three-hour sit-in demonstration near the Raj Bhavan.
They demanded immediate detection and deportation of all Bangladeshis in the state to protect the identity of the indegenous population.
The organisations also urged the government for speedy implementation of all clauses of the Assam Accord of 1985. Besides the AASU, members of six groups of the state, Moran, Mottock, Tai-Ahom, Koch-Rajbonshi, Tea Tribes and Chutia participated in the agitation.
