Vohra invites SAYSS to visit Baltal Base Camp

Srinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, has invited Shri Lila Karan Sharma, Convenor of the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) to visit Baltal, base camp of the holy Amarnath Cave.

An official spokesman said today that in a communication on August 5, addressed to the Convenor of the Sangharsh Samiti, by Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) B B Vyas, it has been stated that it is extremely necessary to have complete clarity about the total land required by the Shrine Board at Baltal for various purposes, on temporary basis, keeping in view the land already under its use for providing facilities during the Yatra period.

''Such a clarity can be secured only on a site visit to Baltal and Domail'', the communication said.

In his meetings with the Samiti leaders, prominent citizens of Jammu and the leaders of various political parties a few days back, the Governor had offered to reconstitute the Board for making it more vibrant and effective to cope up with the ever increasing rush of Yatris, year after year.

He had also discounted the fears about dilution of the Shrine Board and assured that it will continue to be the sole authority for managing the annual Yatra.
