Trade unions seek people's support on general strike

Puducherry, Aug 6: Various central trade unions on Wednesday, Aug 6 sought the support of all sections of people to make Wednesday, August 20 general strike a sucess.

Addressing a joint press conference, trade union leaders said the general strike was to protest the price hike of petroleum products and online trading among others.

As a prelude to the agitation, the trade unions would jointly organise demonstrations, rallies and campaign movement from August 15.

Mr Murugan (CITU), Mr Abishegam (AITUC), Mr Sankaran (AICCTU), Mr Anbazhagan (HMS) and Mr Chandrasekeran (UTUC) addressed the press.
