Tata Steel workers organise sit-in protests

Jamshedpur, Aug 6 (UNI) The TISCO Nibandhit Mazdoor Sangh today gheraoed the residence of Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman here, demanding permanent employment in the private sector steel major.

More than a hundred laborers assembled outside the main gate of the MD's bungalow, situated in high security northern town area, at around 1100 hours.

Soon a large number of police personnel and private guards cordoned off the bungalow.

Meanwhile, the labourers organised peaceful sit-in protest in front of the gate demanding direct talks with Mr Muthuraman.

The workers claimed that the management was not giving permanent employment to around 16,000 labourers registered as per the company rules.
