Rs 9 lakh 'pipe money' seized in Kerala

Kannur, Kerala, Aug 6 (UNI) Police seized Rs nine lakh of pipe money (hawala) from Ahamed Musliyar (45) of Pallam in Kasargod District during a vehicle check late last night at Mattanur NH Road.

Police sources said the duo were travelling in an autorickshaw to Irrity from here when the vehicle was halted at Mattanur NH Road.

Ahamed was on way to hand over the money to M Padmanabhan of Iritty. He said the money was given to him by a jewellery shop owner from Kasargod.

Police also took Padmanabhan's mobile number from Ahamed before arresting him. He was later handed over to the Enforcement Wing.
