Padmapriya case Atul's judicial remand extended
Udupi, Aug 6 (UNI) The Judicial Magistrate Court here today extended till August 20, the judicial custody of Atul Rao, the prime accused in the disappearance and suicide case of Padmapriya, the wife of Udupi BJP MLA K Raghpathy Bhat.
Padmapriya left Udupi without informing her family members on June 11. Her body was found hanging in an apartment in Delhi on June 15.
The Mangalore district jail authorities produced the medical certificate following a show cause notice issued by the court continding that they could not produce Rao before the court as he was not keeping well.
Meanwhile, the Judge who admitted the petition of the owner of the Innova car abandoned by Padmapriya and Atul at Kumta before going to Delhi via Goa, ordered handover of the vehicle to the owner after obtaining a surety.
The Karnataka government had handed over the case to Corps of Detectives and a special investigating team had been formed under Superintendent of Police K L Yogappa.
