Amarnath: Members resign from SASB

Srinagar, Aug 6: All the eight members of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) have resigned to facilitate its reconstitution, a spokesman of the board said on Wednesday, Aug 6.

He said the members-- Justice (Retd) G D Sharma, Prof Vishnu Murti Shastri, Mr Sunil Sachdeva, Mr Manoj Gaur, Dr Vimla Dhar, Professor Neerja Mattoo, Mr Raghu Modi and Dr Arun Kumar-- have submitted their resignation letters to Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of the Shrine Board. ''The resignations are under consideration of the Governor'', he said.

The Governor, in his meeting with the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS), had mentioned that the induction of eminent persons from Jammu and Kashmir region would instil confidence in the functioning of the Shrine Board.
