Mayor Arti Mehra nominated for observer programme in Beijing Olympic

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) In a rare distinction for an Indian, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra has been nominated to participate in the Observer Programme for the Beijing Olympics Games.

The Chairman, Organising Committee of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, has nominated Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra to participate in the Observer Programme for the Beijing Olympics, a spokesperson for the Municipal corporation of Delhi today said.

''The Organising committee of the Commonwealth Games will bear her travel cost and provide accommodation. The Mayor will be out of the city for Beijing from August 7 to 9,''the spokesperson said.

The Organising Committee of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held in Delhi, is, as a host of the XIX Commonwealth Games, conducting an Observer Programme during the Beijing Olympic Games, which is a multi-mega sporting event before the commencement of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October 2010.
