Lt. Gen reviews Jammu situation

Jammu, Aug 6: General Officer Commanding IX 'Rising Star' Corps, Lt. Gen Vinay Sharma, today reviewed the security situation in curfew-bound Jammu areas, where Army has been deployed to help civil administration maintain law and order.

Lt. Gen Sharma was briefed on the prevailing situation by Major Gen. D L Chowdhary, GOC 26 'Tiger' Division, an official spokesman said. After the briefing, the Corps Commander visited various sensitive places of Jammu, where Army Internal Security Columns were deployed and interacted with the officers.

Emphasising that the Army had quickly responded to the call of civil administration, Lt. Gen Sharma said the soldiers should execute their job with utmost professionalism. The General Officer, who himself belongs to Jammu region, urged the people to maintain peace in the area in larger national interest.
