K'taka allocates Rs 325 Cr for State Highways devp.,:Minister

Hubli, Aug 6 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has allocated Rs 325 Crore in the budget for overall development of the State Highways, Minister for Public Works C M Udasi said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that the Government will take up development works of roads and bridges as per the budget allocation.

In order to ease the traffic congestion in bigger cities like Hubli it was seriously thought to provide ring roads. The Government has already accepted the proposal for ring road for Hubli from Gabbur cross on the National highway No.4. Rs 10 crores have already been allocated for the purpose. Apart from this it was proposed to build two bridges near R.Narasipur and across Sharavathi, he said.

Under the Central Road Development scheme, the state needed Rs 650 crores and at present the State Government has demanded Rs 125 crores to meet the immediate needs, he said.

Mr Udasi said that the Government has already released Rs 200 crores to eradicate regional imbalance and develop the identified most backward taluks of the state.
