HRTC driver arrested for molesting girl passenger

Dharmshala, Aug 6 (UNI) Police today arrested a driver of a Himachal Road Tansport Corporation (HRIC) bus for allegedly molesting a girl passenger at Daliara early this morning.

Kangra District Police Chief Atul Fulzele today said the 24-year-girl, a student of MBA in Delhi and resident of Dari near here, was on way from Delhi to Dharamshala on bus.

The bus stopped at around 0230 hrs at Daliara, the girl along with other passengers came out of the bus. When she sought a secluded place to relieve herself, the driver followed her and allegedly outraged her modesty under the cover of darkness.

When the bus reached here the girl narrated the matter to her parents who complained to Dharamshala police, the SSP said.

A case has been registered against the driver, identified as Nand Lal, 42, in Dehra Police station. The accused driver has been arrested.

Meanwhile, Mr A N Salaria, Regional Manager HRTC said Nand Lal was suspended with immediate effect soon after the matter was reported to him by the police after he was arrested.
