Geelani under house arrest for third day
Srinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained under house arrest for the third day today, official sources said.
They said restriction on the movement of Mr Geelani was taken as a precautinary measure.
Aiyaz Akbar, spokesman of the HC told UNI that Mr Geelani was not being allowed to move out of his house since the evening of August 4.
Barring a few hours yesterday, when he visited the Maisuma residence of a youth who was killed in police action on August 4, the Hurriyat Chairman had remained under house arrest, Mr Akbar added.
Officials had apprehensions that Mr Geelani may join the agitators who are protesting against the alleged attack on the Muslims and Kashmiri drivers in Jammu.
