AP devotee offers Rs 14 lakh silver articles to temple

Tirupati, Aug 6 (UNI) A local devotee donated silver articles worth Rs 14 lakh for use during 'Sahasra Kalasabhishekam' at Tiruchanur Padmavathi Temple, near here, last evening.

Saikam Jayachandra Reddy handed over the silver articles, including 108 silver 'kalasams,' lampsets, an 'aarathi' plate, a silver crowbar and a spade to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board Chairman B Karunakara Reddy, the TTD said in a release here today.

The silver pitchers will be used to give a celestial bath to the deity during ''Sahasra Kalasabishekam' being introduced from today'' at the temple.

The crowbar and spade will be used to dig up earth during ''Ankurarpanam'' ritual.
