Air Marshal V R Iyer pays floral tributes to martyrs

Hyderabad, Aug 6 (UNI) Air Marshal V R Iyer, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Training Command, today paid floral tributes to martyrs at the Air Force Academy war memorial at Dundigal.

On his arrival, Air Marshal V R Iyer, accompanied by Ms Bala Iyar, President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association, was received by Air Vice Marshal K J Mathews, Commandant, Air Force Academy and Ms Rita Mathews, President, AFWWA (L).

The Air Marshal, who was on a two-day vist, was introduced to senior officers. He was presented a ceremonial guard of honour, an official release said here.

Air Marshal V R Iyer was assumed the command of Training Command on May one, 2008. He was an alumnus of National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the fighter stream of Indian Air Force on January 22, 1972.

He has more than 3,000 hours of flying to his credit. He has flown MiG-21 variants, Jaguars and trainer aircrafts.
