7 killed, 4 injured as van hits truck

Chennai, Aug 6 (UNI) Seven farm workers, including two women, were killed and four injured, when the mini-van in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Ambur in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu early today.

A report received by police headquarters here said the victims were on their way to a mangrove for work when the accident occurred at around 0130 hrs.

The mini-van tried to overtake a truck and collided head-on with another truck coming from here.

While six people were killed on the spot, another died at Ambur Government Hospital.
