14 Bangladeshis arrested in Uttarakhand
Dehra Dun, Aug 6 (UNI) The Uttarakhand police today arrested 14 Bangladeshis from Roorkee's Kaliar area and investigating their probable involvement in terrorist activities in the state ahead of Independence Day.
Talking to UNI today, Kotwali police inspector D S Bhandari said 14 Bangladeshis were arrested in Kaliar area at 1130 hrs this morning and interrogations were on to trace their involvement in terrorist activities in the state.
They will be produced in court tomorrow, he said.
So far, 34 illegal Bangladeshis have been arrested since last year from Roorkee and with today's arrest, the count has increased to 48, he said.
On October 24 last year, the police had arrested 12 Bangladeshis from Roorkee and in January this year, two groups of 11 Bangladeshis were caught from the same area.
Incidentally, Uttarkhand has been put on a high alert after several mails warning attacks across the state on Independence Day, was received.
