Sonia to attend Olympic Games ceremony
New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) The Congress today confirmed that its President Sonia Gandhi would attend the August 8 opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.
AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi would also accompany her in the three-day trip to Beijing in response to an ''invitation'' from the top most person of the Communist Party of China,'' AICC general secretary Veerappa Moily told mediapersons.
He said Ms Gandhi would leave here for Beijing tomorrow night.
There were reports that Ms Gandhi would also be accompanied by her daughter Priyanka Vadra and her family.
Ms Gandhi is attending the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games as the guest of the Chinese government.
However, she will be seated not in the VVIP enclosure but in the celebrity enclosure.
