Journalists protest threat by militants
Imphal, Aug 5 (UNI) The media fraternity, under the aegis of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), today staged a sit-in protest here to protest militant threats against journalists and media organisations.
Recently, a militant outfit had imposed ban on a local newspaper for not publishing its press statement following which the paper ceased its publication for the second day today.
As a mark of solidarity among the media organisations and journalists in Manipur, all the scribes of the state staged sit-in protest.
The journalists also displayed placards denouncing threats and intimidations and appealed to all to respect the freedom of the press.
