Athens Oly 2004: Fazekas played truant

Robert Fazekas, Discus, Hungary: He won the gold medal in 2004 Athens Oly. It wasn't news because he was favourite and did it with minimum of competition. He made news for wrong reasons for he refused to provide the required amount of drug sample after the event fearing the failure. The million dollar question was: Was it a case of not producing sufficient urine sample or a delebrate ploy to avoid ignominy. Only god and Fazekas know it. Whatever the reason Fazekas' act amounts to drug offence. He was stripped of the gold medal and was duly handed to Virgilijus Alekna. Fazekas personal best is 71.70m- the fifth longest discus throw ever.
