Proposals to enhance CAT ambit over govt institutions considered
New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The proposal to bring Government controlled institutions and authorities under the jurisdiction of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) through issuance of a general notification is being considered.
The move, under Section 14 (2) of the Administrative Tribunals Act, is being mooted in view of the fact that the tribunal is competent to deal with matters involving the service and is self-sufficient in nature.
These and other issues figured at the two-day All India Conference of Central Administrative Tribunal, which concluded yesterday, including establishment of an intra-court appeal and measures to improve service conditions of the CAT Chairman and its members.
The deliberations on steps aimed at smoothening the functioning of the tribunal were chaired by Justice V K Bali.
Earlier, the meet was inauguraed by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan.
Union Law Minister J R Bhardwaj, Minister of state for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension Prithviraj Chawan and Supreme Court judge Arjit Pasayat were among those present, a release here said.
